xbox360 Japan

Great post over on play-girlz about Microsofts failure to penetrate the potentially lucrative Japanese market.

The new xbox360, which is selling out in America and Europe in the lead up to Christmas, has failed to shift the 159,000 units that the market was allocated. As pointed out by Play-girlz, and touched on in this months Games TM magazine, the Japanese gaming market is different to that of the American and European markets.

Its one of the main reasons why the two gaming markets rarely inter-mix, tastes in game genres is different to the point where neither market is willing to publish games that will most likely fail to sell. This is partly down to publishers not being willing to commit financially to a game which is not suited to the market, but also the game buying public who will not risk buying into something new. For this reason we will forever be forced to suffer further re-releases of Fifa football…..
