Sony PSP users in the UK will be able to enjoy location free TV sometime in 2006, when the new LocationFree device is launched.

The LocationFree device plugs into your entertainment source (DVD player, Sky, TV etc) and your broadband connection. Assuming you can then find a wireless hotspot, you can watch your favourite programs streamed directly to your PSP. Not only is this product aimed at those people who are on the road, but it can be used around the house to – fancy watching the game in your back garden? The LocationFree device will allow you to do this with ease.

In principle the LocationFree device sounds ideal, and provides yet another great entertainment source for your Sony PSP. The downside is that its not going to be cheap to buy, and having spent time browsing the web using a wi-fi connection, I’ll be interested to see how well TV streams across to the PSP, and if the quality actually makes the programs watchable.
