Sony PSP Internet Browsing
I’ve been spending quite some time surfing the web using my Sony PSP. Its probably the geek in me that finds it good fun to spend time trying to get used to how it works and finding websites that work well on the small screen.
There are a number of websites now specifically designed for the PSP, as well as a large number of news and information sites that have mobile versions of their content, that work well on PDA’s and the Sony PSP.
The web browser itself is fairly intuitive, being able to use the analogue stick to move the cursor is helpful, and using square + the analogue stick scrolling the whole page makes it easy to quickly see all the content being offered.
One of the things I have struggled with is the opening of pages in different windows, mainly because it seems easy to lose track of which window is open where as you cycle through them using the shoulder buttons.
The speed of browsing on the Sony PSP isn’t bad at all, until you need to enter text, which suffers from the lack of a keyboard. General surfing is fine, and checking things such as email, once you are logged in is painless, but replying to emails can be a long winded process depending on the length of email you wish to write.
If you don’t have the time or inclination to boot up the PC, the Sony PSP does make a good alternative for a quick surfing session, so long as you are not doing anything that requires a huge amount of text entry. Once the web browser gets a flash plugin, I would imagine more and more entertainment style websites to be developed that can make the most of the PSP’s assets.
Yep
How can you control the stopping of seeing porn sites???
Can you filter sites????
Ian,
The PSP itself has no control over the websites being viewed. This is something you would do at the router.
Do you need a special plug-in for internet browsing?
