PSP eLoader ‘Brown Ale’ version Released

No sooner has everyone put together lists of what does and what doesn’t work on the PSP eLoader Beta and along comes a new version.

The new
eLoader (Final Release) v0.9.5
, codenamed ‘Brown-Ale’ is now available from PSP Updates and is said to be on a par with the 2.0 Firmware EBOOT Loader.

This means that all those people who have got firmware 2.6 on their PSP can now enjoy all the homebrew that those lucky people who remained on 2.0 have been using, including the Gameboy Advance emulator. Of course with every plus point there has to be a negative, and you may find some software no longer works.

The new ‘Brown-Ale’ eLoader now comes with a handy installer, so no more problems with trying to understand where everything needs to go to get it working, and the voodoo methods of getting the eLoader to load up your homebrew should be a thing of the past.

“Aside from the increased compatibility and stability of Brown Ale, it also replaces the old 2.0 EBOOT Loader, and is an all-in-one program for launching homebrew on 2.0 firmware and above. Some new programs also work with the new eLoader such as the GBA emulator, but don’t be surprised if some programs that used to work don’t. WiFi is still not accessible using the GTA exploit on 2.01+ firmware so programs that make use of the PSP’s WiFi abilities will not work.”

I’m looking forward to spending sometime with this new eLoader version and trying out the various bits of homebrew that didn’t work with the Beta version, including Quake and Doom.

does it have to run through a special game

  2. Yes, its has to use the Grand Theft Auto Game. The Brown-Ale version has been superceeded by the Biere D’Alasce version (0.9.6)
