PSP n Go interviews Fanjita

Theres a good interview with Fanjita, one of the main developers behind the PSP GTA eLoader, on the French PSP website PSPnGo.

In the interview, Fanjita talks about how the eLoader came about, a little on how the eLoader is coded, and how he feels about the future of the PSP and homebrew.

“When v2.01 firmware came out, the TIFF exploit no longer worked, and so we had to try to find other ways to run code. Fortunately Edison Carter discovered the GTA exploit, and thanks to his work (and that of Jim Paris and psp123), we were able to start running code on v2.01 and above. It was about that time when Ditlew got in touch with me, and we decided to work together to get the EBOOT loader running on the GTA exploit.”

Although Fanjita is often credited for the work on the eLoader, there have been a few people without whom the eLoader may never have existed, and its alwasy nice to see these people given the credit they deserve.

And echoing the thoughts of the PSP community,

“I always hope that Sony will realise that allowing limited homebrew would be a good thing, but I doubt that they will.”

And I think hes right. I cannot see Sony sitting back and saying “Ah yes, homebrew, great idea, lets not patch the firmware and stop it working”. While there are groups of homebrew developers trying to create iso loaders (a mechanism by which copied PSP games can be played without owning the original PSP game) Sony will never let the homebrew community have an easy ride.

You only have to spend a little time on the PSP forums to realise the demand for an iso loader is high, fortunately FAnjita and Ditlews stance on this is that an iso loader will not be developed using the eLoader software.
