Next Generation PSP (v1.5?)

We all know the internet is perhaps the biggest rumour mill of them all, and a little speculation on one site can turn to hard fact on another, so its not surprising that at the moment rumours of what the next firmware update for the PSP will include are doing the rounds, as are articles on what the nex tPSP version will be able to do.

GameShout have a post on the potential of the next PSP including a video camera and flash memory.

I’ve seen a few mentions of the video camera making an appearance, something which I’m having trouble reconciling with Sony’s current product line up. Although a video camera would be a nice feature to add to the PSP, it may be crossing the line into other Sony product areas which could impact sales of those products. In the same way that the mp3 playing ability of the PSP is not as good as the standalone Sony mp3 players, Sony need to have some product protection in place.

I’m sure there will be a new version of the PSP announced sooner or later, and I’m still guessing that it will be a 1.5 version that cosmetically will be slightly smaller with more hardware functions, but the core system will still be the same as the current PSP.
