PSP Media Server v0.7.6

CJ (aka BigLuzer) has been beavering away on my favourite piece of PSP software – the PSP Media Server, and has now released version 0.7.6 which enables you to build RSS channels by Artist (or however you have catagorised your music folders) and will now work to multiple folder depths without returning a 404 error.

For those of you who have not listened to me bangiong on about the PSP Media Server, this software allows you to stream your mp3 collection from your PC’s harddrive to your PSP, anywhere in the world. I haven’t yet tried streaming the audio from outside my own network yet, mainly because in the UK there is a lack of wi-fi hotspots available, but from within my network the streaming is faultless and hooking the PSP upto a hi-fi in a different room removes the need to keep moving CD’s around.

With this latest version, the ability to add a channel per music folder means that its easy to switch between the albums you want to listen to, and this software does remove the need to store music on your Memory Stick, assuming you will always be near a wi-fi hotspot when you want to listen to music.

CJ’s website can be found here, download link for the PSP Media Server is at the bottom of the change log, and you need to rename the downloaded file to .rar (remove the extra .txt extension).
