Those of you who use AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) may be interested in this PSP site – AIMonPSP, which works as a portal, allowing you to use AIM on your PSP.
” The purpose of this project was to make a web-based AIM client that can be used in almost any browser that supports JavaScript (such as the one included in the new PSP firmware); it uses no Java or Flash. AIMOnPSP is a free service and runs from our server which means that you don’t have to download anything or load anything onto your PSP in order to use it.”
I’ve never used AIM, although I’ve used a few other variations of that type of software in the past, and I guess having access to an AIM client on your PSP is quite a handy feature. The only downside is that text entry on the PSP is quite slow, so there is no rapid fire responses to someone whose sitting in front of a keyboard.

Theres lots of news at the moment regarding the Flash player that you can enable on your PSP should you upgrade your PSP’s firmware to 2.7.
One of the things that has been missing in relation to the Flash player was detailed specifications of what its capable of doing. Fortunately, the guys over at FlashDevices have put together some details of what the PSP’s Flash player can and can’t do, and the list of known issues.
If you are a Flash developer looking to develop content for the PSP, head over to the FlashDevices website and check out the things you need to consider before you start.

ARComics, with the recent release of Firmware 2.7 for the Sony PSP, are looking forward to a new platform to showcase their talents by making the most of the new PSP Flash player.
“We see the PSP screen size, Internet/network connectivity, commercial success and target demographic as a perfect venue to bring an entertaining means of reading to a new generation by blending technology with art and storytelling.”
For those of you who have upgraded your PSP’s firmware to 2.7, this news should indeed brighten your day. At this stage I am unsure as to how well the homebrew Flash Player will cope with any content provided by ARComics.
Once again, if you are thinking of upgrading your PSP to firmware 2.7, please be aware that you will lose the ability to use any of the homebrew software that has been written for the PSP, at least until an new exploit in the system is discovered, which may take some time.
