PSP Choice+ Disappointment

I talked about Choice Lite a few days ago, and over the weekend just gone, Choice+ was released.

Choice+ is a replacement interface for Fanjita and Ditlews GTA eLoader. This new front end adds in some extra functionality, such as being able to give each game its own age rating and game category, allowing your homebrew to be catagorised into different genres.

The problem is that where Choice Lite worked fine on my PSP running firmware 2.6, Choice+ crashes. I’m unsure of the reason why, but the forums seem to be filled with people having the same issue.

Normally, a piece of homebrew software not working on the PSP isn’t a major concern, as bugs are usually resolved fairly quickly and patches released to sort out the problem. In this instance however, the author of Choice+ has elected to stop development work on the software to concentrate on other endeavours.

I find this decision slightly disheartening, especially as the software loads up and looks very professional on my PSP, and the issue could be a minor problem that could be quickly fixed. Unfortunately, the decision to stop development means that I have had to revert back to the standard eLoader front end, as this software is still supported and any bugs that arise will be fixed.

I hope that at some point in the future, the developers of Choice+ will find the time to continue the expansion of Choice+, as it has great promise.
