PSP eBook Creator – Parablax

Michael Ralph from Parablax has emailed me about some software he has written that will convert text files into eBooks, which can then be read on the PSP in the same way as you would with one of the PSP magazines, ie by copying the jpg images into a folder in the Photo directory and browsing through them page at a time.

“psp ebook creator is a free program. It converts any text file (.txt) into a formatted ebook that can be read on your psp.”

I’ve had a play with the software and created an eBook from one of the Gutenberg texts, and it seems to work fine.

The latest version of the eBook Creator has the follwing features :

Landscape/ Portrait page formats
Background images
Smart formatting (efficiently fits text to psp screen dimensions)
User defined fonts, ink color and page color
Navigation bar (including page numbers and custom title)
JPG compression settings
psp display window
1:1 page previewing
Chapter breaks

If you use your Sony PSP to read alot of text files, this utility makes light work of converting the files into am easy to read format. The only downside is that a simple text file thats only a few kb in size can suddenly become a 20mb set of images. If you don’t like havn to load up the eLoader and the an eReader to be able to read your books, this might be a good solution for you.

NOTE: If you are asking a PSP related question, please state your firmware version, as this will usually impact on the response you get. Please also state whether you are an experienced PSP owner or new to the PSP scene, as this will determine the level of detail in any answer I may provide. Thanks, Dave.
