One week with the PSP

As you may have noticed, news posts on this site were a little quiet over the last week. This was due to being away on holiday with my family. I have now returned and have an inbox full of emails and news to digest.

I will attempt to begin posting up PSP news and my views on the PSP world around me as soon as possible. In the meantime, I’ve spent a week with my PSP and no net connection and no homebrew, so I’ve had opportunity to play some proper PSP games (Ridge Racer and WRC). I’ll be posting my thoughts on these two games shortly, but overall the PSP proved to be the great portable gaming machine I knew it was.

A few niggles did surface with the PSP over the last week however, the main one being that the merest hint of sunshine means the screen is not viewable. Given the recent warm weather, opportunity to sit in the garden and play the PSP was all but removed because of horrific glare on the screen. Listening to music is obviously fine, but not being able to play games was a real pity. I’m going to investigate some glare guards to see if the situation can be fixed, or at least made better.

On a positive note, the battery life of the PSP seemed very strong, and I only had to recharge the battery once over the course of the week (about 8 hours gametime) which I think is pretty good going.

More thoughts on the PSP’s performance and those game reviews coming up over the next week.

NOTE: If you are asking a PSP related question, please state your firmware version, as this will usually impact on the response you get. Please also state whether you are an experienced PSP owner or new to the PSP scene, as this will determine the level of detail in any answer I may provide. Thanks, Dave.
