PSP Race Driver 2006
Gamespot have got a review of the new PSP game Race Driver 2006.
This is a title I’m keen to add to my collection of racing games, so it was nice to read a comprehensive review of the game before parting with any money.
2004 was most certainly a choice year for gaming, but that said, the number of 2004 games that are finding their way onto the PlayStation Portable in 2006 is just a little disconcerting.
Codemasters is now in on the fray, too, releasing Race Driver 2006, which despite its largely recycled career mode, feels like a mostly new game, thanks to the addition of an all-new single-player mode, some new cars and tracks, and simulation racing that still feels tight and authentic on the PSP.
I had been wondering about the decision to release Race Driver 2006 on the PSP, given that Codemasters released Race Driver 3 on the PS2 earlier this year. Having played Race Driver 3 on the PS2, I was concerned that the PSP version of Race Driver 2006 would be a step backwards.
The review puts my fears to rest, making the game sound like an essential purchase for racing fans. Hopefully the fact that the difficulty level would appear to have been reduced will not be too detrimental to the gameplay, and the racing will still be enjoyable and most importantly, close.
