PSP to get Myst Game

Joystiq has a few details on the classic game Myst being released on the Sony PSP sometime next month.

One of the best selling games ever, Myst is the kind of game that found its way into the school classroom last year, due to its mind numbingly boring gameplay and its infuriating puzzles.

For those unfamiliar with the game Myst, all the action takes place on an island, where you are faced with numerous puzzles to solve.

From the Wikipedia entry:

Each scene was modelled and rendered in StrataVision 3D, with some additional modelling in Macromedia MacroModel. Each image was edited and enhanced using Photoshop V1.0. ILM’s John Knoll released a Photoshop Plugin to lead artist Chuck Carter so as to read PICS animation format files in filmstrip form which helped with some of the animation editing and color correction. Video editing, compression and compositing were performed in Adobe Premiere.

The game involves you interacting with objects on the screen, and last time I played it I gave up after about 30 minutes, as clicking randomly on the screen to see what can be used and picked up drove me slightly mad.

I’m sure that Myst will sell by the bucket load on the PSP, but I don’t think I’ll be adding it to my collection.
