PSP Downgrader – 2.6 to 1.5

It looks like there is finally a working downgrader for all those PSP users stuck on firmware version 2.5/2.6 that wish to return to firmware version 1.5.

The downgrader is still in Beta, and there are a number of steps you must take to obtain the correct firmware information before you can downgrade correctly. This software is still a very much ‘use at your own risk’ and can result in a bricked PSP.

I’m personally going to hold fire until the software is tested thoroughly and proven to work correctly before attempting to downgrade my PSP, but it is something I will be doing at some point, assuming I can find someone with a firmware 1.5 enabled PSP to dump out the firmware for me.

I won’t be downgrading because it has been reported that the downgrader only works if your PSP was not a 2.5/2.6 firmware version direct from the factory – in other words you can only downgrade if you upgraded your PSP from firmware 1.5/2.0/2.01. If your PSP came installed with firmware 2.5 or 2.6 this downgrader will not work.

Now downgraded from 2.6 to 1.5 – see PSP Downgraded from 2.6 to 1.5

You can find more information on the downgrader at the following locations :

Have fun, and safe downgrading.
