PSP Product Manager John Koller interviewed

Joystiq have an interview with John Koller, senior product manager for the Sony PSP.

Its a pretty standard interview, and looks like its been spun through a PR spin cycle slightly, but it makes for fairly interesting reading.

Let’s talk about some of the criticism the PSP has taken, for instance load times. What is your policy on approving games that can have excessive load times and has that been addressed inside Sony?

It’s something that we’re looking at. This isn’t just a PSP issue, it’s cross platform within our company and really across the industry. Some games just take longer to load, but it is something we look at in the testing process and continue to look at and it will be improved.

This sounds promising, and it would appear that Sony are acknowledging the fact that slow load times are an issue. Not sure what other products on the market have similar load times to the Sony range, but hopefully it is something the company will try and improve on with its newer hardware.

The interview makes no mention of homebrew, which is a shame, I’d love to hear how those on the inside at Sony view homebrew and the underground PSP community as a whole.
