Blocking Porn on the PSP Internet Browser

I was asked recently about the PSP web browser, and whether there was anyway to control the websites being looked from the PSP. The main issue here was a concern about the PSP being used to access pornographic websites.

The PSP itself has a parental control option, which will set the access levels for Games and UMD Movies, but nothing to control the websites the PSP can access, other than switching the PSP browser off completely.

If you want to allow the PSP browser to accesss the web, but block particular websites that may be unsuitable, you need to use your wireless router to control what the network can see. While I cannot go into details about how to set up protective filters on your home network, most wireless routers (which I assume people accessing the web from their PSP will be using) have a setup page which allows you to filter out either entire websites or particular keywords from being used in domain names.

Remember that any filters you apply to your home network will apply to all devices on the network, and a PS using a network outside of the home will only be filtered on that networks settings.

NOTE: If you are asking a PSP related question, please state your firmware version, as this will usually impact on the response you get. Please also state whether you are an experienced PSP owner or new to the PSP scene, as this will determine the level of detail in any answer I may provide. Thanks, Dave.
