PSP Custom Theme with Wavy Background
If you are using the custom 3.03OE-C Firmware by Dark_AleX on your PSP, you might like to know that you can change the standard PSP theme for a custom one, and still retain the wavy lines on the XMB.

The standard theme images are bmp files, and in the latest firmware these are merged into a single file called 01-12.bmp. To create your own custom theme, you need to use something like Photoshop and create 12 separate backgrounds, each 60 pixels wide by 34 pixels tall. The PSP stretches these images to fit the full 480 pixel by 272 pixel screen, so you have to be pretty abstract in your choice of image, otherwise it gets stretched into a blur.
Once you have 12 bmp images (named 01.bmp, 02.bmp …. 12.bmp), use the BMP Merger [Download : BMP Merger] to concatenate all the files into a single image called 01-12.bmp.

Once you have done that, you need to boot your PSP up in recovery mode (hold the right-shoulder button down while rebooting your PSP), connect your USB cable to your PC and select the advanced options. Then select the Toggle USB (Flash 0) option. You then need to copy over the 01-12.bmp file that you can find in the vsh/resource directory.
The file size should be 73k. Reboot your PSP and ensure that ‘Use Wallpaper’ is switched to off. You should then be able to select your custom PSP theme as normal.
You can download the theme I created here : [Download : 01-12.bmp].
The standard PSP theme file can be downloaded here : [Download : 01-12.bmp (original)] – Just paste this into vsh/resource on flash 0 if you don’t like the changes.

As always, be careful changing anything in flash 0, you may brick your PSP. I’ve been playing around with this for a while and have had no problems, just ensure you know what you are doing before making any changes.
i hate my psp ive been trying to hack ever since i had 1and every single time IT SES “the game could not be started”!?@!?
PSP dude, what firmware version have you got on your PSP at the moment?
“the game could not be started” is a classic standard message for PSP’s that are unable to run homebrew software.
Let me know your current firmware version and I will put something together to help you get it homebrew enabled.
