PSP XMB Icon Hacking

Update: I have written a tutorial on isntalling custom XMB icons on your PSP. Useful for anyone using custom firmware 3.03OE: How To Install Custom XMB Icons on your PSP. Note, at time of writing the topmenu_plugin.rco has changed between 3.03 and 3.10, so this customisation will not work on 3.10OE-A.

There is currently a lot of interest in the ability to change the icons that are displayed within the PSP XMB, with a number of people either writing tutorials or putting together icon packs to use on your PSP.

The principle of changing the XMB icons is fairly straightforward, but not something I’m going to try myself (famous last words I know!). The main reason is that I spend so little time using the XMB itself, that going to the trouble (and risk) of changing the icons.

If you are interested, there are a number of places you can read up on the techniques to perform this PSP mod.

If you do change your XMB icons, send me a picture of them (use SVCapture or similar).
