PSP XMB Theme – KDE Buuf

Once again I’ve been busy creating a new XMB theme for all you 3.03OE users. This time its a KDE themed effort, using an icon set called Buuf.

I’m pleased with the way this one has turned out, and if you like chunky looking colourful icons, you’ll probably like this one too.

You can download this theme here: KDE Buuf PSP XMB Theme.
Download here : 3.30OE and 3.40OE version

This Buuf derived set is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 License, which means they can be used so long as the original author is acknowledged. For more info, see DeviantArt.

As always, you need to connect your PSP via the recovery menu and copy the rco files into the vsh/resource directory on flash0. Copy the pgf file into the font directory if you want to use the font. Wallpapers can be copied into any directory under the photos folder on your memory stick (Accessed via a normal non-recovery mode usb connection).

This does require you flash files to your PSP, so make sure you know what you are doing, and backup your originals. I cannot be held responsible if you brick your PSP (however unlikely that is).

  3. All the RCO’s work fine on 3.10 except the top_menu_plugin.rco (top menu icônes).

For full customization flash your firmware to 3.03 OE-C (you not need to downgrade in 1.50 again, juste create your data.psar with 1.5 and 3.03 eboot’s dans flash directly).

You take no real advantage with the 3.10 except somes PSX games, but if you have a problems with certain PSX game, juste take de poploader prx by Dark_Alex for 3.03/3.11 PSX support.

  13. Chad, download the file and unzip it (use winrar or winzip).

Boot your PSP up in recovery mode (remember these themes only work on 3.03OE or 3.30OE/3.40OE firmwares).

Go to the ‘advanced’ menu option and then Toggle USB (flash0).

Copy the RCO files into the vsh/resource directory. The font (ltn0.pgf) goes into the font directory.

Make sure you backup your flash0 files before overwriting any in case you want to return to standard.

  17. HOW DO YOU UNZIP OR PUT IT IN RECOVERY MODE,AND WERE IS THE ADVANCED MENU AND WHAT IS rco and vsh/resource directory?

  18. BABO on May 8th, 2007 at 1:34 am
  19. BABO,

unzip the files using winzip or winrar.

Recovery mode is available to users of custom firmware 3.03OE through to 3.40OE, although these themes are only designed for 3.03OE and 3.30OE/3.40OE.

To enter recovery mode, you boot your PSP up holding the right shoulder button in.

rco is the file type the icons come in. you need to copy the rco file sinto the vsh/resource directory, these can be located once you connect via usb to flash0 in the recovery menu option.

  29. i have 3.40 right now. how do i get it to 3.03oe or 3.40oe in oreder to run recovery mode.thanks dave for all your help.thanks

  30. BABO on May 21st, 2007 at 6:14 am
  31. BABO, you cannot get an OE version for your PSP. You need to be able to downgrade to firmware 1.5 and then up to firmware 3.30OE/3.40OE. As you are on 3.40, which has no downgrader, you are stuck.

You will need to wait until a downgrader becomes available for your current firmware.

  32. Dave on May 21st, 2007 at 11:38 am
  33. if you find out when the make a downgrader for 3.40 can you tell me.

  35. What do you mean Copy the RCO files into the vsh/resource directory. The font (ltn0.pgf) goes into the font directory?
