Sony S.PORT system for the PSP

Interesting news from Sony that it is developing a system that will allow sports fans (or at least Arsenal fans) to receive live replays and statistics while watching a match live on their PSP.

The system is going to be called S.PORT, and is going to undergo a trial with 4,000 Arsenal fans later in the year. If successful, I imagine it will be rolled out at a number of venues across the country.

This whole concept is very intriguing. Imagine being at any live sports event and being able to view statisitics and other information about whatever event you are watching, in near enough realtime.

The only issue I can see with this is that it is difficult to view the PSP’s screen in bright outdoor light, so it may be difficult to actually use the system if you are out in the open. That aside, this sounds like a really promising development.
