Importing a PS3 is cheaper than buying in the UK
Wraggster from DCEmu, has splashed out and bought a PS3 from SuccessHK. Not only was it substantially cheaper than the UK version (£275 GBP vs £425 GBP), but it also has the proper full hardware emulation chip for playing PS2 games rather than the cheaper software version the UK PS3 has.
One thing to be thankful for is Region Free gaming, in a world like today where boundarys mean nothing via the Net, its great to see a company go the region free route.
Universal Power supplys, how sweet it is to get a console from Japan and plug it straight into my power supply in the UK, major points scored there.
The above two points are enough to make importing a PS3 appear to be the sensible option. Full region free compatability means you don’t have to worry about where you get your games from, and not having to use any third-party power adapter to convert the Japanese console to work with the UK system is great.
Would I buy a PS3 though? No. At the moment I just don;t have the time to make use of one. If I was rich enough to buy one and happily accept it would get minimal use then I perhaps would, but spending even £275 on something that will get little use isn’t justifiable. And even if I got one and used it all the time, it means my PSP would be used less.
PSP used less? But its a portable device (hence the name)? Yes, but I actually use my PSP mostly around the house, so any device that removes that free time at home is going to impact on my usage of my PSP. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have all the free time in the world and be able to play games all day, but real life gets in the way of that small dream.
Whilst i dont know too much about ur currency over here in Australia it costs a $1000 for a base PS3 and more to import.
But like you i have little time for another console. I have a PSP and a Wii (which i got the Wii not long ago) and i still use my psp heaps more.
And another cosole like the the wii would just sit there and look pretty, too expensive for that kinda usage.
i have a good computer too which is 1 of the best “consoles” u could say in which to play games, thats in my opinioin but for potable, the PSP shines above the rest
