PSP Upgraded to 3.30OE, XMB Themes Updated

Update Broken links now fixed, sorry for the delay!

I have now upgraded my PSP to the new custom firmware 3.30OE-A (by Dark_AleX). The process was very smooth, and I’m pleased to say I had no issues upgrading from 3.03OE-C (with custom icons and the screen capture plugin installed).

So long as you follow the instructions, it would seem there is little to go wrong with the upgrade process.

Once upgraded, I then set about converting all the popular XMB themes I’ve created to be compatible with the new 3.30OE version. These are listed below for you to download, if you wish. Extract the contents and copy the rco files into the vsh/resource directory on flash0 (under the advanced option in recovery mode).

These icon sets should only be used under firmware 3.30OE. Installing them may result in a partial brick of your PSP, so make sure you understand the recovery menu, and have backups of your original files from flash0 at hand before making any changes.

  13. I have version 3.02 from the actual psp website.
do u have any themes that i could use????

  14. Ryan on April 18th, 2007 at 2:46 am
  15. Wow I finally discovered your site after seeing your themes all over the place. Any plans on making some custom opening and gameboots for 3.30 OE-A. Once I could change the default ones its kind of boring to have the XMB all snazzy with the default opening and gameboot PSP logo. Thanks

  16. Leo on April 18th, 2007 at 3:20 am
  17. Thanks Leo, I’ve not really looked into creating custom opening (cold) boots. I may at some point try and create some to match the themes I’vecreated.

    Thanks for the kind comments.

  18. Dave on April 18th, 2007 at 9:16 am
  19. Ryan, you would need to upgrade to the official 3.03 firmware (thats 3.03 not 3.30) and then downgrade to firmware 1.5. You would then need to upgrade to the Dark_AleX custom firmware (3.03OE or 3.30OE) to use these themes.

  21. Looks absolutely GREAT! Just two questions.
The Readme files talkes about verison 3.03OE and not 3.30OE – what is correct?
Really copy ALL files to the flash/vsh/resources including png, pgf, rco?
    Thanksw, Xian

  22. Xian on April 18th, 2007 at 9:43 pm
  23. Xian,

Readme needs to be updated, I’ll look at that today. So long as you have donwloaded the 3.30OE versions and are running 3.30OE then these will be fine.

png file is the wallpaper, so that goes in the /PSP/Photo directory on your Memory Stick.

pgf file is the font and that goes in the /font directory on flash0

the rco files go into vsh/resource.

I’ll clarify in the readme file.

  36. caphrikorn12 on April 23rd, 2007 at 11:06 am
  37. Install by conecting your PSP to your PC in recovery mode and copying the .rco file into the vsh/resource directory. Font is the .pgf file and needs to be copied into the font directory.

In other words, boot up your PSP after a hard reset holding the right shoulder button in to enter recovery mode. Select advanced and then the USB connect (FLASH0) option.

    copy files as described.

  41. Just an update on my tests… not being brave enough i only used the topmenu_plugin.rco to replace the XMB icons. And what shall i say: PERFECT.
Like the icons very much (decided for Shiny Again – thanks to the creator). Really easy going!
    Regards, Xian

  47. Duranium R2 Nemesis XMB Theme – 3.30OE version

the icons are working on 3.40OE-A, apart from the network ones, i just get blank spots there.

can i request an update for it?

  48. Dennis on May 22nd, 2007 at 11:42 pm
  49. Dennis, I’m using R2 Nemesis on my PSP with firmware 3.40OE without any problems what so ever.

Some people have found that deleting the topmenu_plugin.rco and then copying the new one in works better than just copying it over the original. Can you give this a go and see if it works for you.

And are you using any other customised items (wallpaper, coldboots, fonts etc)? It may be a space issue on the flash0.
