I Got this from wikipedia :

"3.40 OE was released on April 20, 2007 This release includes the same changes made in 3.30 OE-A' except it now uses the 3.40 firmware. If you try to run the web browser the PlayStation Portable will be semi bricked and recovery mode must then be used. 3.30 OE (all versions) are not affected by this bug."

I think I'll wait for a stable release of 3.40 OE-A

Jay,

There are a number of reason why I feel that the OE firmware is superior to the 1.5 + devhook option.

The first is that the OE firmware is permenant as far as hard and soft resets of the PSP are concerned. With devhook, if you hard reset your PSP, it always goes back to firmware 1.5 and you then have to load up devhook again to emulate your selected firmware version.

Secondly, the OE firmware gives you the recovery menu, which means that you can revert back to firmware 1.5 at any point should you wish, including circumstances where the PSP has semi-bricked because you've run some homebrew that has accidently written to flash when it shouldn't.

Thirdly, I find the OE firmware 'cleaner' to use. If you are happy to constantly fiddle to setup the devhook to work the way you want, then maybe upgrading to OE isn't right for you. I much prefer to have a memory stick free of clutter, so no need for multiple devhook versions running different firmware versions, just homebrew games and apps sitting in a folder that take up very little space.

Its been a while since I looked into DevHook, but I always remember it being an extra layer of complexity between the PSP and the software you want to run, whereas OE firmware's remove this 'middleman'. If you are emulating standard 3.03+ firmwares via devhook then you have access to all the functions of that firmware, but the OE versions have opened up the ability to play PSone games via the emulator without the need for a PS3 or access to the Sony online store.

Dave,
I have a 1.50 PSP, I have been using DevHook on it for ages and have never had any issues. My question is what would be the benefit/advantage for me to move up to 3.40OE? Not to sure if you have covered this before, but thought I would ask as am worried I'm missing out on something??
Thanks
