New PSP Syphon Filter Game – Logans Shadow

Joystiq have got some news that fans of Syphon Filter will rejoice in – theres a new game on the way, called Logan’s Shadow.

The original PSP Syphon Filter game was pretty damn good, in fact its one of the few games of this genre that I have played pretty much all the way through. With great graphics and a very good story line, all held together with a control system that eventually becomes second nature, the first Syphon Filter was a big hit.

The second game (sixth in the series) for the PSP see a few new features, including:

360 degree underwater combat, a cover system with blind fire, Havok physics, and a contextual combat system that adds some new and unique melee attacks, from neck snaps to knife kills.

The most interesting one from that list is the contextual combat system, which I assume means that the game calculates the options for fighting based on where you are in the game and the position of the bad guy. This will make a change from the linear effects that most game have, where you always execute the same style kill time after time.

Other big news for the game is its going global. Whether this means that the gameplay will take place in various regions across the world, or if its a hint that online gameplay may make use of players locations, I do not know. Either way, using the word global means its got to be good!

Check out the Joystiq link for a video of the game in action, and a few screenshots.
