PSP Online Store this Autumn?

According to PSPFanboy, an Online Store is coming Autumn 2007.

SCEA president Jack Tretton briefly mentioned the possibility of an online store for the PSP, followed by a quick comment that it should have premiered awhile ago.

While the availability of the online store is rumoured to be this coming Autumn, there are no hard dates yet. Jack Tretton hopes that the store will be available in the Autumn, but this doesn’t neccessarily mean its going to happen.

The PSP is crying out for an online store though, and one that can be accessed without the need for a PS3. I’m still unsure as to why there has been such a huge delay in getting the online store up and running, I would have thought it would have been developed and up and running when the PSP was released, never mind now, some 18 month later.

Regardless, Sony need to pull out the stops and get the store up and running, and give us PSP owners somewhere to download fresh content, such as game demos, music videos, wallpapers and photos. Of course, if Sony could do all this without building in checks to make sure what firmware we are using, even better.

  1. Is the Online Store going to be any similar to the Official Playstation website store at http://uk.playstation.com/psp/downloads/

Currently you can download free content (game demos, video, music etc) from this site.
