Japanese Console Sales 2007

Kotaku have done some nice analysis of the 2007 sales figures within the Japanese market for the three big manfuacturers (Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft) which highlight the dominance of the nintendo Brand – the Wii and the DS are still out of stock in the UK after the Christmas rush, with most retailers bumping the price, or only selling the system as more expensive bundles than the standard Wii Sports package.

The following graph shows the weekly sales of the DS, Wii, PSP, PS2, PS3 and Xbox360, and highlights the blip that Sony received in sales in Spetmeber after the successful launch of the PSP Slim and Lite (PSP-1000) -

Its also interesting to note how the DS and PSP sales, while not the same in volume, are very similar in trend, with only February and September showing distinct variances in that sales pattern.

Anyway, head over to Kotaku for the full write up – its too long and detailed to discuss here.
