How to copy photos onto your PSP

PSP for Beginners Installing photos on your PSP for viewing is straight forward, and takes only a few moments to do.

Fortunately, the Sony PSP is quite flexible in the music formats it will play, with the device not just limited to ATRAC files, and is incredibly straight forward as regards to copying the music onto the PSP. Anyone who has used Sony’s SonicStage software will understand how complex you can make music management when it really doesn’t need to be.

To copy photos and other images to the PSP from your PC, connect the USB cable (to both the PSP and the PC!), turn the PSP on, and select the USB Connection options -

You should then see connected screen -

You then need to open an explorer session in Windows. You should see the PSP listed as a ‘Removable Device’.

Once you have expanded the ‘Removable Device’ within explorer, you should see the PSP directory. Expand this and you should see the PHOTO folder.

You simply need to copy the images you wish to view on the PSP into this folder. You can add the photos into a subdirectory within PHOTOS if you want to keep the images organised.

If you download any PSP magazines, you normally need to extract the magazine into a folder and copy that folder into the PHOTO directory. Make sure that you only have one level of subdirectory within PHOTO, anything deeper than one level will not work.

  9. Lesley, simply create it then. In the same way as your would create a new folder on your PC.

The latest firmware version also allows you to put pictures in a ‘picture’ directory in the root of your memory stick.

  19. jimmy - what firmware are you using? Only the latest firmware versions make use of the pictures folder. If you are using an older firmware version, try using the msO:\PSP\Photos\ structure, and not msO:\Pictures\
