Nintendo DS Web Browser

Hot news on the web is that the Nintendo DS is going to get a web browser.

There are some details on PSP News about the story, it looks like Opera Software are going to be the company behind the planned browser implementation on the DS.

This is great news for Nintendo DS owners, not least because Opera make possibly the best web browser available today (its the one I use exclusively).

The browser software will be available on a DS card, inserting it into a wi-fi enabled Nintendo DS will then give the user access to the world wide web.

PSP News does raise an interesting point however, in that the DS’s screen size is a little small for web browsing, at 252 pixels by 192 pixels. Although a problem for viewing traditional web pages, Nintendo DS specific pages (or pages designed for the mobile market such as Slashdot or BBC) should be perfectly viewable. The problems of the screen size are similar to the problem faced by PSP owners who wish to use their portable device for surfing the web - some traditional pages work fine while others are no good at all.
