PSP Owners Christmas Shopping List for 2008

Its getting to that time of year again, when people are either asking you what you want for Christmas, or you need to buy something for that PSP owner in your life.

I’ve listed here 5 things that would make an ideal present for anyone who is into their PSP. Heck, its a list of 5 things I’d quite like myself. Prices range from the cheap to the not so cheap, but even the new PSP-300 retailing at £140 seems like a good deal to me, given that I paid nearer £200 for my PSP two years ago.

1. PSP-3000 with Fifa09

Featuring a new LCD screen that has 5 times the contrast ratio compared with the PSP-2000, a built in microphone, and an improved AV output for better refresh rates on the TV, the new PSP-3000 under the tree this Christmas would make any PSP owner happy. Especially if they are still using their PSP-1000 (PSP fat).

Maximum Break

Ok, I’ve talked about my stupid addicition to World Snooker Championship 2007 on the PSP before, and this may be the last time I ever mention it, but I managed to get a 147 (the maximum break in snooker) yesterday while playing in the pot black final.

Its not often I achieve a high score in anything, so I guess I can mark this one down as done. While the game itself may have a few flaws in it, I’ve perservered and have got to be quite good at it.

So, the question is, what bad games do you still play in a masochistic way, and whats the best high score you’ve acheived on any game on your PSP. Are there any games you’ve completed start to end in record time?

Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP-3000) Review

PSP-3000 vs PSP-2000 screen brightness

If you are considering buying a new Sony PlayStation Portable, and are undecided as to whether you should pick up the previous generation (PSP-2000) model before it sells out, or get the new next-gen PSP-3000 model, you should head over to Exophase and check out the very thorough review of the new model.

At first glance, the PSP-3000 looks similar in appearance to last year’s hardware refresh. There are more than a couple minute differences, though. Notably, the entire faceplate has been given a smooth matte-finish in contrast to the glossy, fingerprint-attracting coat of previous iterations. Additionally, the Sony logo has been shifted over to the left above the D-pad, while a push-button sporting the classic PlayStation logo is now in replacement of the familiar “Home” button. You’ll also find that the Select and Start buttons have been given a proportional oval shape.

Well worth a read, even if you’ve already got a PSP-2000 and are thinking about supplementing it wit the new PSP-3000 model.
