PSP Firmware 3.93 Released

Sony have released a new Sony PSP firmware, 3.93. This latest official firmware is a minor update, adding more support for titles in the Playstation Network, and adding 20 new radio players to the PSP Radio.

If you are running a custom firmware, then this update is of no use to you at the moment, but if you are on an official firmware, you can upgrade to this latest firmware, if required.

  1. Hey Guys, I just got a new psp and it has firmware version 3.93. I want to run some homebrew apps like a PDF reader but I dont know where to start. i ve been reading all this stuff about the firmwares and i think i am dead on the water by having a unit with this version of the firmware. So the logical questions are: can i run homebrew apps with this 3.93 release? if not, can i downgrade SAFELY to another firmware? please help me out. i am a newbie to all this and dont know what to do. thank, josh.

  3. Joshua, you need to downgrade using the Pandora Battery, otherwise known as Despertar del Cementerio, by Dark-Alex. Its totally safe to downgrade, but it does tend to invalidate your PSP’s warranty.
