PSP Game - Virtua Tennis 3

Well, as I’ve said before its been a while since I’ve written anything of interst on here. There are excuses, a new arrival in the family for one, an addiction to Flickr another, which has stolen whatever time I had for writing about the PSP.

However, a weekend of bad weather meant that I got the PSP fully charged up and managed to spend a bit of time palying on it. I had considered updating the firmware to 4.01M33, but decided in the end that as my PSP is working fine at the moment, it wasn’t worth going through the anguish of performing the operation (I know its relatively painless to upgrade, but I still get the jitters when I’ve kicked off the process and the update is being performed).

So, what have I been playing? Well, as it was Wimbledon over the last fortnight, I thought I’d try my hand at Virtua Tennis 3, to my mind an underated PSP title. While VT3 is a straightforward game to play, when you start cranking up the difficulty level it becomes a real challenge, especially when you play against characters such as Federer or Nadal.

Other than Virtua Tennis 3, I’ve also been trying my hand at PES2008, the latest in the Pro Evolution Franchise. While not totally revolutionary, it does seem to be more polished than previous versions, and still just as difficult on any of the harder levels to score goals. Fun for a half hour kick about though.

It does seem to be sports season in our household, as I’ve also been replaying NHL and NBA a little, and the Wii has been used for a bowling frenzy of late.

Having looked at the upcoming releases list, I must admit to being a little underwhelmed for the future of the PSP, there is nothing that is jumping out at me as a ‘must buy’. Have you got any games on your shortlist to buy that you’ve not got round to getting, or games you are currently addicted to that I really should try? Let me know via comments.

NOTE: If you are asking a PSP related question, please state your firmware version, as this will usually impact on the response you get. Please also state whether you are an experienced PSP owner or new to the PSP scene, as this will determine the level of detail in any answer I may provide. Thanks, Dave.
