PSP - PS3 Portable Copy Function

Kotaku have been chasing Sony on an update to the news that PS3 owners will soon be able to download their Blu-ray movies to the PSP to watch them on the go.

The so-called Portable Copy functionality was supposed to have been released last week, but has been delayed -

Sony told me that according to Sony Pictures they expect to release the first Blu-ray disc movies with Portable Copy “later this year”, but that they don’t have a specific timeframe yet.

The technology, they told me, is currently under development, so Sony is also unclear on whether a PSP firmware update will be required to get it to work

So, don’t hold your breath for this to become available any time soon, as it sounds like there is still some work to do to get the software up and running properly.

Once it is available, I imagine this will be quite a useful addition to the PSP’s abilities. No word on how long it will take to synch a movie to the PSP, or how much storage space it will require, but I;mn sure these details will come to light nearer the time.

NOTE: If you are asking a PSP related question, please state your firmware version, as this will usually impact on the response you get. Please also state whether you are an experienced PSP owner or new to the PSP scene, as this will determine the level of detail in any answer I may provide. Thanks, Dave.
