PSP Turns Three Years Old

GameInformer has held an interview with John Koller, senior product manager of the Sony PSP, as the Playstation Portable turns three years old.

I’ve picked out a couple of the key points from the interview below -

  • The PSP price drop helped target the teen consumer market.
  • The PSP-2000 made the PSP more portable, and a lot of consumers started adopting the PSP for music and for video.
  • Sony are looking at a number of key launches — both software and peripheral — to really aid the sales momentum that they are seeing now.
  • The PSP is primarily centered and marketed as a gaming machine.
  • Not all development of the PSP has been planned from day one, such as the Skype function.

NOTE: If you are asking a PSP related question, please state your firmware version, as this will usually impact on the response you get. Please also state whether you are an experienced PSP owner or new to the PSP scene, as this will determine the level of detail in any answer I may provide. Thanks, Dave.
